The ultimate honeymoon in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is simply made for a romantic getaway, and there can be no more special occasion than a honeymoon to really enjoy this incredible destination. And with THE HONEYMOON tour, we've picked out the real highlights to create an unforgettable and intimate experience that's focussed exclusively on the happy couple.

We've designed the tour to take in some of the most magical sights and luxurious hotels, with a keen eye on opportunities for you to enjoy time together, alone and without the hectic pace usually associated with a tour. Each hotel has been selected for its ambiance, as well as the highest levels of personal and discrete service to make sure that your honeymoon is exactly the way it should be.

Each day includes experiences that are sure to become lasting memories – whether it's dining on a dam, a night in a luxury tent , or cocktails under a moonlit sky, you'll experience your own whirlwind romance with India's “incredible state.”

And while you will be accompanied on the tour, our aim is to stage manage your entire experience very much from “behind the scenes” - leaving no detail unchecked, but allowing you the freedom and privacy you require. After all, this is your honeymoon!

At Wire we believe in equality and extend a warm welcome to all couples, regardless of sexuality.

  • After a long journey you'll get off to a spectacular start as we whisk you from Udaipur airport  to Lake Pichola and the infamous Lake Palace hotel, accessed by private boat. If you feel like relaxing for the rest of the day, then you can make the most of the serene lily pond gardens, or lounge by the pool and just soak up the atmosphere and views.

Watch the sunset over the Aravali hills and enjoy the first of many hopelessly romantic moments before making the short trip by boat to your private dining experience – dinner, just the two of you - on a pontoon on the lake.
  • Checking out from your hotel after a gourmet breakfast on day two of your honeymoon Rajasthan, we’ll take you to explore Udaipur itself, starting with the City Palace which details the rich history of the royalty of Mewar. You'll have a further day to see all the sights and experience Rajasthan's most romantic city, so set your own pace and decide what you would like to see, and when.

In Udaipur you can visit the Jagdish temple, with its meticulously detailed carvings, the Gardens of the Maidens of honour, the Pratap Memorial and the vibrant markets and busy streets that come alive at dusk. You'll also have the chance to appreciate the city from different angles, either from a boat, from the Jagmandir island, or from a cable car.

You'll be staying two nights at Devi Garh, one of our favourite locations in Rajasthan. A palace that has been converted in to a stylish, modern and super luxury hotel, enjoy some real pampering and downtime. Choose from a menu of simply divine cuisine – both traditional Indian as well as international dishes, and we'll make sure you have the perfect private setting, accompanied by gentle flute music in the evenings.

The hotel has a fantastic pool and has recently opened a spa in partnership with L'Occitane de Provence so treat yourself to a heightened level of relaxation. Alternatively, spend an afternoon horse riding, or just flying a paper kite.

Nearby Devi Garh, you'll be able to visit the Eklingji temple complex, a pilgrimage site that is renowned for its unimaginably intricate carvings – a real testament to devotion.
  • After breakfast on day four, you'll be moving on to the picturesque town of Devgarh – home to one of Rajasthan's finest heritage hotels, Deogarh Mahal. Rawat Singh and his family are the perfect hosts, ensuring that yours will be a perfect stay.

With two nights at Deogarh Mahal, you will be able to explore the area and enjoy a long list of activities provided through the hotel. Take a trip on a small rural railway, go bird watching, or take a spin in one of the Singhs' classic cars. You'll also be able to wander through the small town, engage with the locals and get some insights in to life in a small town in Rajasthan. Although the hotel is extremely popular, Devgarh has managed to avoid becoming a tourist trap, remaining quite simply a charming place to while away a few hours.

Mealtimes at Deogarh Mahal are always very special, so you really will be spoiled at every turn. Whether it's dinner in the courtyard under a canopy of stars, or private dining at the nearby Anjana Fort (guaranteed to be one of the highlights of your trip!), the kitchen staff conjure up finely balanced, mouthwatering food. There's also an extensive wine-list that includes many of the new Indian wines which are gaining international repute – so make sure you sample at least one.

The hotel also has a pool and spa facilities.
  • A leisurely start to your Indian honeymoon on day six and you'll be heading to the delightful Chhatra Sagar – a luxury tent camp built on a dam. The location is nothing less than magnificent – the perfect escape from the modern world and a chance to surround yourself with nature. With expansive views across the water and guided visits to the local area, you'll wish you never had to leave.

Another amazing place to take advantage of a romantic sunset, followed by an intimate dinner complete with campfire on your honeymoon India. There's also the opportunity to take a picnic out in to the greenery.

Among the activities you can opt for are: village tours, nature walks, jeep safaris and camel cart rides.
  • On day eight you'll be leaving for Rajasthan's majestic capital, Jaipur. Arriving in time for lunch, you'll be spend the afternoon visiting the Royal Gaitor (cenotaphs of the Maharajahs of Jaipur) and then the monumental Amber Fort. One of the state's mightiest strongholds, you'll see how generations of royalty added their own mark by expanding the fort to meet their needs, or sometimes just as a display of their great wealth.

Just before sunset you'll head up to the Nahargarh Fort for drinks and stunning views of the sprawling city that Jaipur has become.

For dinner – the ultimate indulgence with fine dining at Rambagh Palace. Widely revered as one of the world's top hotels, you'll revel in the grandiose spaces, heavily influenced by the Victorian era, but of course with an Indian twist.

Your overnight stay will be at either Samode Haveli or Devi Ratn. Samode Haveli is another of Rajasthan's leading heritage properties, just on the outskirts of the old walled city. It conjures up images of life in a city residence for minor royalty as well as incorporating modern elements that continue to make it one of the most popular hotels in town. By comparison, Devi Ratn is ultra-modern and yet does not lose site of its roots. Traditional craftsmanship and local materials, including semi-precious stones adorn each room and public space, with influences from astrology and mythology. Opened in 2011, Devi Ratn is set to follow in the footsteps of its sister hotel, Devi Garh - where you will have stayed in the early part of your Rajasthan adventure.
  • Day nine means a chance to really explore Jaipur, and that means exploring by tuk tuk. It's without a doubt the quickest and most authentic way of discovering this busy capital. A maze of small streets, markets and shops selling almost anything you can image, you'll have time to wander before visiting the landmark City Palace and Jantar Mantar (royal observatory).

After lunch in the city, you'll have the option to head over to the temples at Monkey Valley (simian encounter guaranteed) visit the pristine white Birla temple, or visit the Elephant Village. The latter is a project by the Rajasthan government to improve conditions for the many elephants that ferry tourists up to the Amber Fort, but will give you a chance to see them at play. Meet the mahouts, scrub down an elephant and enjoy bathtime with these gentle giants.

In the early evening you'll have time to revisit the markets in the old city at their most hectic. For dinner on your final night in Rajasthan, you have the choice between elaborate and delicious private dining back at your hotel, or one of Jaipur's finest rooftop restaurants with stunning nighttime views.
  • The final day of your honeymoon Rajasthan, day ten will be shaped by your onward travel plans. After a relaxed breakfast, opt for some lastminute sightseeing or shopping before heading on to Delhi or Mumbai for your onward international flight.

As an extension to your honeymoon in India, we can arrange a trip to the impossibly romantic Taj Mahal in Agra - the final icing on the cake.
