Rajasthan's romantic side - LOVE

We designed the LOVE tour to take you on a romantic adventure through Rajasthan, providing countless intimate moments and quality time together, as well as fitting in a healthy dose of the sights and experiences that make Rajasthan the perfect location for a romantic rendezvous.

In each location we try to have a minimum two night stay, giving you the chance to relax, indulge and explore.

LOVE is a 16-day tour starting in Udaipur and visiting Deogarh, Nimaj, Rohet, Khimsar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh.

For a detailed day-by-day summary of this tour, please click below.

  • On day one of your Rajasthan tour package you arrive in Udaipur, via Delhi or Mumbai and we'll be right there to whisk you away to your hotel. If you're just arriving in India after a long flight then you'll probably be looking forward to a relaxing day, which is exactly what we have in store. We'll get you checked in and you can spend the rest of the day by the pool, enjoying a relaxing massage and generally lazing around within the über stylish confines of this stunning palace hotel.

Take a guided walk through the nearby village and meet some of the local children who learn English simply by meeting guests and can't wait to explain everything they know about their village. Alternatively you can make a short trip to the 11th century temple complex in Eklingji.

A mouthwatering meal will be served at the hotel, in one of the palaces turrets and accompanied by soothing flute or sitar. Without a doubt this will be a very special first evening in Rajasthan.
  • No need for an early start on day two as you'll have the morning to explore Udaipur. We'll provide you with key information and a map of the important sights...such as the City Palace, Saheliyon Ki Bari (gardens of the maids of honour) and Pratap Memorial so you can wander at your leisure. The old city is fairly small and compact, so very little chance of getting lost! We're always on standby if you need us, but we think you'll appreciate the chance spend time in the 'most romantic city in Rajasthan', just the two of you.

Later in the afternoon, you'll be taking the Lake Pichola boat ride including a stop off at the Jagmandir Island and the chance to see the renowned “floating palace” and the sun setting over the Aravali hills.

Your evening includes drinks and dinner at a roof-top restaurant, combining the finest Rajasthani cuisine with wonderful views of Udaipur.
  • After breakfast, day three starts with the drive to Deogarh where you'll get your first insight in to life in a small town in Rajasthan. The hotel and it's staff are permanently poised and ready to make your stay absolutely sublime, so all you need to do it choose from the list of activities we include – from horse riding or a jaunt on the local steam train, to spa treatments and wildlife safaris and nature walks. Or just meander through the streets of the town and meet some of the friendly locals and uncover all manner of shops and stalls.

Meals will be served at the hotel and are sure to impress at every sitting - with amazing food, a comprehensive wine list and seamless service you'll wish you never had to leave.
  • A slow start to day four (and five) and you'll be heading to Chhatra Sagar at Nimaj – the luxury tent resort built on a dam bordering luscious wetlands. You'll be spending two nights here, so you can make the most of the total seclusion. The views from the tents are unparalleled and all activities, such as local village tours, bird watching and guided nature walks are included, so just choose to do as little, or as much as you feel like. Arriving in time for lunch, we'll get you checked in and then leave you to enjoy plenty of quality time together...(including the very special dinner with a view!)

  • On day six (and seven) we'll be taking you to Rohet, where the landscape begins to turn to real desert. It's a three hour drive, so we don't need to leave too early! Another two night stop, you'll have the chance to experience riding on Mawari horses (bred by the hotel's owner) and to visit some of the many villages in the area with a guide. Take part in an opium ceremony and enjoy an al fresco lunch served in the middle of a lake. You'll be spoiled for choice. Again, our job is to just fade in to the background, leaving you in the very capable hands of the hotel staff and to enjoy the spectacular views.
  • From one spectacular place to the next on day eight, and after breakfast we'll be heading to Khimsar, and a small resort surrounded by towering sand dunes. It's a true oasis, so remote that you can only get there by jeep, or camel. This is the real definition of “getting away from it all”. Relax by the duck pond...with real ducks and geese, go for a walk in the dunes or just make the most of your well-appointed cabin, made from natural materials. The Dunes Village truly is an oasis of peace.

An early morning Black Buck safari kicks off day nine. You'll be taking a jeep ride to see these magnificent animals when they're most active.

After lunch we'll head out to to explore the beautiful Nagaur Fort and nearby Tarkeen Dargah and Jain temples.

In the evening you'll be back at the Dunes Village where you'll be able to enjoy dinner sitting at the top of one of the dunes... one of the most romantic dining experiences possible.
  • It's an early start on day ten (and eleven) and a four hour drive to the desert town of Jaisalmer – the 'Golden City'. We'll make sure there are plenty of opportunities to stop and stretch your legs along the way and when you arrive at the luxury desert camp, we're sure you'll fall in love with the sheer sumptuousness of it all. This will be your base for exploring, as we show you yet another facet of Rajasthan, where the architecture almost exclusively features the burnished-ochre, local Jaisalmer stone. Lunch and dinner will be served at the camp.
  • Day eleven and after breakfast we'll be taking you to Ludwara to visit the 2000 year old Jain temple, constructed and reconstructed from the rich local stone. Despite attempts by the Mughals (amongst others) to destroy its fine carvings, the temple survived and is being restored by a Jain trust. It's an absolute masterpiece but the monks themselves admit that few foreign tourists make it there in any given year.

A brief drive back to Jaisalmer and then it's lunch at Trio (reviewed by the New York Times no less) and then an afternoon of exploring the fort and palace. The fort itself actually houses much of the old city of Jaisalmer and is still inhabited. Although today it's become a very tourist-oriented place, the detail and precision of the carvings and stonework used throughout the old city are quite simply stunning.

We'll have you back at the resort in time to enjoy sunset drinks in the desert or a spa treatment and then dinner.
  • You'll be heading to Jodhpur on day twelve (and thirteen) and a very different experience staying two nights at RAAS, Jodhpur's most cosmopolitan and sexy hotel. It's one of our personal favourites. Set in the heart of the old city, we'll be taking you by tuk-tuk to explore the spice markets and of course, the awe-inspiring Mehrangarh Fort.

In the evening you'll be able to enjoy a candle-lit dinner at one of Jodhpur's most famous rooftop restaurants, with views across the entire city (including the Umaid Bhawan).

The next day there will be more opportunities to uncover the hidden secrets of the 'Blue City', and to get a totally different perspective with a trip on the Flying Fox zip wire.

In the afternoon use the spa at RAAS and prepare yourself for a mouthwatering dinner in the hotel's very chic dining room.
  • Leaving behind the bustling city, day fourteen (and fifteen) means a trip back in to rural Rajasthan and the tranquility of Ranakpur. After breakfast we'll head out on the three-hour drive, stopping along the way to take in the ever-changing views. After check-in and lunch, we'll visit the famous Jain temple complex where you can marvel at the 1444 individually carved pillars and the intricacy of this devotional work. Be sure to make a wish underneath the moon carving (also referred to as 'the tree of life') and say a prayer before you leave!

In the afternoon we'll take you to Bera for more excitement as you head out on a leopard safari with Thakur Devi Singh. Seeing these big cats in their natural habitat is captivating and with any luck you'll be able to get within breathtaking distance so you can observe their behaviour and take plenty of pictures.

A delicious dinner, prepared by Devi Singh's wife gives you the perfect opportunity to hear more about leopard conservation.
  • On day fifteen you'll be able to explore the small farming communities in the surrounding areas – where people still use traditional methods to cultivate the land. In stark contrast, you'll be able to take a stroll around the massive Kumbhalgarh Fort with its collection of temple ruins.

In the evening enjoy a private introduction to meditation with one of the monks at the Jain temples and see the after-dark closing ritual at one of the smaller temples in the complex. Even if you're not particularly spiritual, there is a fantastic ambiance, which along with the lighting, incense and ceremony makes this unmissable.

A candle-lit dinner by the pool, surrounded by silence and beneath a canopy of stars will ensure that your final night in Rajasthan is unforgettable.
  • After a whirlwind trip around Rajasthan, day sixteen means you'll be heading out. Depending on your next destination you'll have breakfast at the hotel, (maybe have time to take last minute advantage of the fantastic pool) and then transfer to the airport for flights to Mumbai or Delhi (and connections to Goa, Cochin and onward international destinations).
